Course Introduction: Applications of Artificial Intelligence (for Economics and Management)

  • Core Subject: This general education course is designed for students in economics and management. It focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) with a data-centric approach, providing students with essential knowledge in AI, data acquisition, data analysis, processing, and visualization. The course aims to cultivate AI literacy, data thinking capabilities, and digital technology application skills, preparing students for various professional roles.

  • Educational Objectives:

    Upon completion of this course, students will achieve the following objectives:

    • AI Fundamentals: Understand the history, definition, key AI technologies, AIGC large models, and typical application scenarios.

    • Data Acquisition & Visualization: Learn common methods for acquiring real-time web data and presenting it visually. Use simple data analysis techniques to help users gain insights into business scenarios.

    • Data Processing & Analysis: Master data processing and analysis methods. Use Power BI to create visual reports and dashboards, with practical case studies such as analyzing product sales data.

    • Data Exploration & DAX: Be proficient in using DAX functions (e.g., CALCULATION, CALENDARAUTO) for data analysis and visual reporting. Create and compute metrics, columns, and table data to present digital portraits of various business dimensions.

    • Python for Data Analysis: Familiarize with Python syntax and data analysis workflows using pandas, sklearn, and matplotlib. Implement clustering algorithms to analyze customer value and visualize results with graphical representations.

Lecturer Bio: Dr. Wang Ting

  • Academic and Professional Background:

    • Current Role: Associate Professor and Head of the Computer and Network Fundamentals Department at Shenzhen Polytechnic University.

    • Research Focus: Cryptography, Artificial intelligence

    • Experience: Over 13 years of teaching experience in higher education institutions.

  • Achievements:

    • Published more than 10 academic papers, including 7 SCI-indexed papers.

    • Led two Shenzhen city and district-level scientific research projects.

    • Undertook two industry-oriented research projects.

    • Holds 4 granted invention patents and 5 software copyrights.

    • Authored 3 national-level planned textbooks.

    • Contributed to the development of AI general education platforms and online course resources.

  • Awards and Recognition:

    • Twice awarded Second Prize and two times Third Prize in the Guangdong Vocational Colleges Teaching Ability Competition.

    • Mentored students who won First and Second Prizes in the Guangdong Blockchain Competition, and a Second Prize at the National Blue Bridge Cup Competition.
