On the morning of August 21, facilitated by the UNESCO Cairo Office and accompanied by representatives from Huawei Egypt, a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt visited Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) to engage in in-depth exchanges on TVET cooperation. SZPU President Xu Jianling warmly received the delegation in Meeting Room 101 of the Mingde Building.
President Xu extended a heartfelt welcome to the Egyptian delegation and introduced the university’s development history, highlighting its achievements in the internationalization of TVET. He especially emphasized SZPU’s active involvement in global TVET governance, notably through the UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET, which has become a key platform for international collaboration and knowledge sharing. President Xu expressed SZPU’s strong commitment to working jointly with the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the UNESCO Cairo Office, and Huawei to deepen cooperation in curriculum development, skills training, faculty capacity building, and joint educational programs — aiming to create a new model of Sino-Egyptian TVET collaboration.

In his remarks, Sherif Kishk, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt, highly praised SZPU’s practices in industry-education integration and digital transformation. He expressed Egypt’s strong interest in adopting the ICT industry-education integration model co-developed by SZPU and Huawei, with a view to advancing bilateral collaboration in talent cultivation, curriculum development, vocational skills training, and joint higher vocational education programs. He also voiced keen interest in learning from SZPU’s successful cooperation with UNESCO. Sherif Kishk proposed that both sides should sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as soon as possible to formalize the outcomes of this exchange and lay the foundation for a structured cooperation framework. During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on expanding areas of collaboration and reached several important consensuses.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited SZPU’s School of Digital Media and School of Telecommunications. They explored smart classrooms and various training labs, gaining firsthand insights into the university’s digital media teaching practices and the SZPU-Huawei ICT Academy’s innovative “integration of curriculum and certification” model. The delegation was deeply impressed by SZPU’s achievements in advancing industry-education integration and cultivating digital skills talents.

The meeting was also attended by Song Rong, Dean of the School of Telecommunications; Wang Bingfeng, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Yang Congkun, Executive Deputy Director of the UNEVOC Centre and coordinator of the UNESCO Chair; and other relevant staff.
